Under the old Facebook format, click the "Edit Profile" button and then select "Friends and Family" from the options listed along the left side of the screen. You can also opt to hide your friends list from others if you have any privacy concerns.Click the link containing the words "Friend Subscribers" to display your friends in an alphabetical list. While it makes for easier browsing, the alphabetical display will only remain as long as you allow subscribers, and it will not change the random order of friends on your main friends page. Once you've allowed subscribers, click on "Friends" and then select "Subscribers" from the drop down menu next to your name. Yet changing your account settings to allow subscribers will enable you to at least see an alphabetical list of friends. If you're using the new Facebook Timeline format, there are no buttons to change the basic friends layout, and your friends will appear in a random order each time instead of an alphabetical order. If you later decide you'd prefer to return to the original friends layout, simply click the button with the three blocks followed by three lines to once again view your friends in a vertical column.
